If you missed it, the Orpheum at Oxford held its first ever Noche Latina/Latin Night this past Saturday. When asked about the event, new Orpheum owners Lauren and Everett Pendergrast were surprised: “It’s been the Orpheum’s most successful public entertainment event to date. And, we want to thank everyone that came out.”
The evening featured DJ Coco Puff, a well-known Latin DJ based out of Durham, NC. He’s known in the Triangle for live-mixing Latino hits, and it kept the dance floor packed all night. How successful was the event? The event was originally scheduled for 8 pm – 12pm, but owners Lauren and Everett made the decision to extended to close at 1AM, so that attendees could keep on enjoying the evening. The event was essentially an all ages- event, with a minimum age of 16.
We asked Lauren about the inspiration for this event. “When we took over The Orpheum, this is exactly what we envisioned doing with this historic space. We want to provide a fun and inviting environment for all the diverse groups in Granville County.” Fresh off the success of Saturday night, the Orpheum has already scheduled two more dates for Latin music and dancing:
Saturday May 6th at 8PM-1AM
Saturday June 24th, 2023 8PM-1AM
So, what’s next for Oxford’s nightlife? Along with Latin Night, the Orpheum hope to introduce other themed nights like R&B Night, NOLA Jazz Night and other collaborations with local creatives such as the Granville Little Theater.
